Fun with Food! Hair!

So, Evlyn is now wearing mostly 12 month clothes. Her daddy dressed her today, and I must say he has greta taste! You'll see her shoes in another pic. below.
Oh, and she is getting more hair!! YAY!! This is the first time a clip would actually stay in! (for a little)

Here's the full body shot! Look at those shoes!! Daddy is good at making everything match!

Last Monday, Jared had off work b/c of Martin Luther King Day. So, we started off the day by going to the park! It was fun to show Jared how much Evlyn loves swinging in the baby swing!
haha! I love her face here! She is having fun, but also making that "butterflies in stomach from going so fast" face.
 Loving it!
Here's a cute little shirt that she probably won't get to wear again. :( It's a 12 month, and I thought it would be huge but figured I should try it on her anyway. Well, it was very hard to get on. The little pants jeans were so cute too, but pretty tight.

I just thought she looked cute with her hood on. :)
Making a silly face! Look at those teeth!!
So, Jared's parents gave us some old food storage they had. Mostly wheat berries and powdered milk So, I've been experimenting! The first one has nothing to do with the food storage though. I've just been wanting to try a desert that had avocados. And, since we got 6 for $1 I bought tons!! (Really! In the past month, I think I've bought about 30!!) So, I made this pudding desert. I thought it was yummy, yet strange. My friend also really liked it. Jared, however, did not. That's okay! I got to eat his too! mmm!
Here is one of my experiments with wheat berries. Stuffed bell peppers. It was yummy! And healthy!! It has meat, wheat berries, ricotta cheese, sauteed onions and garlic, and spinach. mmm! Oh, and an egg and Parmesan cheese.
And, homemade mayo! It was suprisingly yummy!  This had the powdered milk. mmm! It's fun having these things to experiment with!
I also made a maple buttermilk pie, which I got the recipe from pinterest. I used the powdered milk, and it was pretty yummy! I just need more practice making a good pie crust. I forgot to take a picture, sadly. :( Oh, and I attempted sprouted bread. That was a crazy, long story in and of itself. I was pretty stressed at the end of the process, and disappointed. But, I think I will try it again in a while. Next time, hopefully I'll have more successful experiments to share!

My 8-month-old!

Please mommy! Pick me up!! haha Evlyn has started doing this recently and it is the cutest thing! She'll crawl right up to you and either pull on your pants/skirt, or pull herself to standing and continue to pull on you. It's too hard to resist!
Side note, here's a beautiful Amaryllis that is finally blooming! Our friend gave it to us, and it's so pretty! It now has 4 flowers on it blooming.
Back to my little girl. She's 8 months old today!! It's so crazy how fast she's growing! And, I mean growing! She's huge! She crawls everywhere fast, tries to get into everything and get everything in her mouth, and tries to walk. She pulls herself up all the time, and then lets go and stands for just a second before falling. She's very determined though, and I wouldn't be surprised if she's walking within a month! Here's a pic. of her crawling. Later, I'll show you pictures of her standing.
She took a bath in the big bath! And, she loved it! haha Isn't she a cutie?!
 mmm! Duck!
Swinging! She loves the little baby swing at the park! Here are some cute pictures I got.

She also loves to take books out of the bookshelf and eat them. haha Someday she'll learn that they're for reading, no eating.
Here are those standing pictures I promised!
Sorry, for the next two you'll have to turn your head. I can't figure out how to rotate them.

We had a crazy adventure 2 days ago, on Monday! I went walking in the morning with my friend, Morgan. This cute little dog followed us EVERYWHERE, and would not leave us alone. So, I called Jared and asked if I could bring her home and try to find her owners. She didn't have a collar and was a little skinny. He said yes. Morgan has a dog, and she gave this little one a bath for me, b/c she has the stuff for it. She also let me borrow a leash and some dog food. Well, this little dog stole my heart! She was so sweet, and loved to be around us. She and Evlyn got along great too! I took pictures, and Jared printed off signs for me. I posted ads on FB and CL. Here are some pics.

Sadly, the next morning, Tuesday, she was gone! She slept in the backyard, but I couldn't find her anywhere. She must've jumped the fence, although I don't know how b/c she's so small! But, there didn't seem to be any other way she could've gotten out. I was a little relieved b/c now I don't have to keep looking for her owners, but also sad. I wish I knew what happened to her! I drove around, called and whistled for her, but didn't find her. :(

Evlyn has developed a lot of independence! She wants to do everything herself, including feeding. Which, as you can guess, makes a HUGE mess! Last night, she grabbed her spoon from me and got her food all over herself and me. (And the floor and chair) Here are 2 pictures Jared took. I don't know why this one made Evlyn glowing, but that's okay.

Luckily, Jared helped me clean her up! And, lastly, here are 2 more pictures of Evlyn. I just thought they were cute!

3 year anniversary!

So, as I mentioned in my last post, Jared got me a 1 night stay at a nice hotel called the Clarendon for Christmas. Then, he took off work on Tuesday for our anniversary, so we stayed Monday night. We brought Evlyn with us, b/c we didn't have enough food to leave her with someone, and we figured it would be more fun/less stressful if we brought her. It was a lot of fun! Before we went though, we saw the movie Tintin. It was pretty good! And, that's the first time we've seen a movie in the theater since Evlyn's been born. It was fun! My MIL and FIL watched her for us. :) So, here's the pics of our room.

Pretty nice and classy, right? Right after we brought our stuff to our room, we decided to go swimming! They had a pool and a HUGE hot tub. The pool was too cold, so I stayed in the hot tub the whole time, which wasn't too hot. Evlyn couldn't be in it though, and the pool was a little cold for her. So, she just kicked the water and played on the side. Of course, one of both of us were with her the whole time so that she couldn't fall in.
This is before we went swimming. Do ya like my new swimsuit? My mom sewed the purple material so that it wouldn't be too revealing for me. :)
I love this picture of her, although I wish it wasn't so blurry. :(

I love how excited she was! She really likes water!

She liked to stand, which scared me. :P Jared was right behind her though.
And, she liked to play with the little fountain.

But, her favorite was this ball!

This was funny! I kissed her and she started eating my face.

Tuesday morning, we decided to celebrate with some champagne! haha j/k. It's really sparkling cider.
We checked out of the hotel, went out to lunch, and then went to my parents' house. They watched Evlyn for us while we went to the temple. It was really nice to go together on our anniversary! Plus, it's been a while since we've been able to go, so it was def. needed!

On Saturday, we walked around the mall. The Santa spot was still up, but of course nobody was in it. Jared asked a security guard if we could take some pictures. She said yes, so we had fun! I took a lot, but I don't want to post all of them.

Evlyn loved playing with her little cousins! Here's Mylee kissing her!
It's kind of a long story, but we ended up with a baby bullet! I'm having lots of fun making baby food! Here are some sweet potatoes and avocado that I've made for her, in the freezer. Aren't the little containers so cute?!
